George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s Wedding in Venice [WATCH VIDEO]

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin got married in Venice, Italy over the weekend, Sept. 27, 2014, around 8:45 p.m. according to Us Weekly reports. Read on to learn more about the details.

George Clooney, regarded as Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor, and human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin exchanged vows on Sept. 27, 2014. Clooney, 53, and the Alamuddin, 36,  celebrated a civil wedding ceremony in Venice’s City Hall on the Grand Canal, while the myriads of followers waited hours for a peek of the newlyweds. The couple got married two days earlier in a hush-hush ceremony.


Although the papparazzi had a hard time prying on the ceremony, still they managed to score some scoop.

“George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin were married today (Sept. 27) in a private ceremony in Venice, Italy,” said the actor’s publicist in a statement published on The Hollywood Reporter.

According to Us Weekly, guests dined on lobsters, lemon risotto, fried polenta and mushrooms and partied the night away to Amy Winehouse, Daft Punk and old school classics from Jackson 5 and Blondie.

Alamuddin wore a beautiful Oscar de la Renta wedding attire, and Clooney was looking dapper in an Armani suit for his big day at the seven-star Aman Hotel. The wedding was attended by Hollywood’s A-lists, including Bill Murray, Ellen Barkin, Emily Blunt and Matt Damon; model Cindy Crawford and her husband, the entertainment industry entrepreneur Rande Gerber, U2 frontman Bono and US Vogue editor Anna Wintour. The wedding ceremony was officiated by Rome’s mayor Walter Veltroni.  Veltroni is a close friend of Clooney.

“Staff were preparing bouquets, table arrangements and other floral designs well into the night. Everything they were using was white with green flourishes, lots of roses and peonies being used,” explained a hotel source according to

Thirty-six year-old Alamuddin was born in Beirut, educated at Oxford, and stays in London. She has represented WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and been dubbed as a ”passionate defender of human rights”.
