George R.R. Martin Expresses Disappointment Over ‘Outlander’s’ Emmy Fate
George R.R. Martin has recently expressed how bummed he is about some Emmy snubs. The author of “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels where the HBO hit fantasy series “Game of Thrones” is based from is most bummed about “Outlander’s” results during the Emmy’s. Read on for more details.
“This truly is The Golden Age of Television, especially for drama. “Game of Thrones’ faces the usual formidable competition for the ‘Big One,’ the award for Best Dramatic Series… but as distinguished a list that is, there are so many incredible shows that did NOT make the cut that it boggles the mind…It’s great to see ‘Better Call Saul’ and ‘Orange Is The New Black’ on this list, but where is ‘Masters of Sex?’ ‘The Knick?’ ‘Halt and Catch Fire?’ How about ‘Vikings?’ I really thought ‘Justified’ might make it, for its final season. And ‘Outlander,’ how in the world did they overlook ‘Outlander,’ with its music and its costumes and its cinematography and the incredible performances of its three leads (especially Tobias Menzies in his double role)? Why is Nick Offerman not on the ballot for ‘Parks and Recreation?’ How could ‘Big Bang Theory’ possibly fall off? Truly, the Academy (of which I am a member) moves mysterious ways.”
On the other hand, though, “Game of Thrones” received more nominations than ever yet to date. Peter Dinklage is the only actor of the show who won in the Actor/Supporting Actor categories and we thought Lena Headey who plays Cersei Lannister will win after her performance in “Mother’s Mercy.” However, Headey and Emilia Clarke are nominated this year.
Martin’s disappointment towards “Outlander’s” fate during the Emmy’s is clearly understandable because we all thought that the Starz fantasy drama series will finally have its due.
