George R.R. Martin Showed Mercy to GOT Fans: First Chapter of Winds of Winter Published Online!

“Game of Thrones” (GOT) fans, we all know that you can’t wait for the new season of GOT to air on April 6, 2014. This goes for those who only watch it on HBO. However, for those who read the books as well, then some fantasy goodness is coming your way. George R.R. Martin showed mercy to GOT fans because the first chapter of “Winds of Winter” has been published online!

The “Game of Thrones” book series stopped at “Dance with Dragons” and the next possible book, “Winds of Winter” still has an unknown release date. The good news is that George R.R. Martin is writing it, so don’t fret!

To make the good news even better, he has published a chapter of his unpublished book, “Winds of Winter” on his official Web site!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Martin set it up like this:

“The new chapter is actually an old chapter. But no, it’s not one I’ve published or posted before, and I don’t even think I’ve read it at a con (could be wrong there, I’ve done readings at so many cons, it all tends to blur together). So it’s new in that it is material that no one but my editors (well, and Parris, and David and Dan, and a few others) have ever seen before, but it’s old in that it was written a long time ago, predating any of the samples that you have seen. The first draft was, at any rate. I’ve rewritten it a dozen times since then.”

Hold on, before you go to the Web site because we know you’re dying to read it, beware, serious spoilers are up ahead.

This chapter is titled “Mercy” and you better leave it if you don’t want some spoilers. If you really can’t wait for “Winds of Winter,” then go ahead and read it but if you still have the patience to do so and you don’t want to be left with so much anticipation, then just leave it.

For GOT TV show fans, please don’t read it! We all know that the author has a penchant for killing characters; especially main characters that always catch us off guard and every mention of a character that you will read on this first chapter will definitely spoil things for you.

The choice is up to you, do you want or do you not want to see what’s next for Westeros?
