Gerard Butler to Star in Geostorm
Another disaster/action movie will hit the cinemas soon and it’s going to star one of the best actors today. If he can save the White House, then we think that he can save something bigger. Who is this actor and what is this film? It’s none other than Gerard Butler who is set to star in “Geostorm.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision, Warner Bros. has just signed a deal to have a Skydance-produced project called “Geostorm.”
“Geostorm” is a sci-fi adventure that is written and directed by Dean Devlin (“Independence Day”). The movie was originally being developed by Devlin himself, when Warner Bros. decided to pick it up. Skydance Productions will still be involved and will be producing with Devlin’s Electric Entertainment.
Devlin is back in action territory and we know that it’s going to be one great movie. With his past creations (“Independence Day,” “Godzilla” and “Stargate”), we know that he won’t disappoint us and with Butler taking the lead role, it will surely make an awesome movie.
Butler will reportedly play the role of a satellite designer who’s stubborn, yet very charming. Things get out of hand when climate-controlling satellites start to malfunction and Butler and his brother will try to save the world from a man-made storm. This requires them to go to space to fix things, while on earth there’s a plot to kill the president.
“Geostorm” would be Devlin’s debut in the directorial world. However, he has also directed some episodes of the TV series “Leverage.”
Currently, Butler is shooting “Gods of Egypt” for Summit. He will also star in “Point Break.” Plus, there’s the sequel to “Olympus Has Fallen,” which is “London Has Fallen” that Butler needs to squeeze in! Talk about in-demand! As for “Geostorm,” it will start production this Fall 2014.
What do you think? Are you looking forward to “Geostorm?” Do you think this is going to be another epic “Independence Day” kind of film? Or more like “Godzilla?” Either way, Devlin’s creations are meant to WOW.
