‘Godzilla 2’ News: Release Date and the Monsters Godzilla will Face

“Godzilla 2” is coming whether you’re ready or not. Last May 2014, the legendary God of monsters’ reboot met success when it garnered a staggering $524 million worldwide. This success inspired the original makers of the “Godzilla” Franchise, Toho, to add another Gojira movie to its already existing 28 films. It also automatically meant that a sequel, from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures, is in order.

So what do we know so far about the upcoming movie?


First and foremost, the highly anticipated sequel shall be made with director Gareth Edwards at the helm. By his side, Max Borenstein will write the screen play. The combination of the two alone is enough to say that the upcoming film will satisfy the palates of the fans, as they were the ones behind the successful 2014 reboot.

Secondly, the news about the monsters that were confirmed to debut in “Godzilla 2.” We all know, well most of us, those three classic monsters from the 60s’ will re-enter the screen. These monsters are Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidora. Some say that the sequel will also be adding Mechagodzilla in the mix but since no confirmation has been given these heresay shall be labelled as rumors now.

Who are these three? Without going too much into it, here is some info on who the three monsters in “Godzilla 2” are: Mothra, as the name hints on, is a monster that resembles a moth. This monster was first seen in 1961. Ghidora, on the otherhand, is a three-headed monster that was first released back in 1964 while Rodan, a pteradactyl like creature, was first shown in 1956.

The release date for “Godzilla 2” is set on June 8, 2018, reported by Deadline. On the other hand, CinemaBlend reported that the release date will be on June 4, 2018. Regardless of the two dates, we’re sure that it’s on June three years from now.
