Gotham Season 1 Recap: Harvey Dent

In “Gotham” Season 1 Episode 9 “Harvey Dent,” we learned how Bruce and Selina’s relationship started. Meanwhile, Gordon addressed some issues. There was a new villain, but there was also something to do with his heart. Read on for the full recap.

We got to see Two-Face when he was still Harvey Dent, the city’s most famous district attorney. However, before we get into the details about Harvey Dent, let’s focus first on the first meeting of Bruce and Selina. Being Gordon’s secret witness to the murder of the Wayne couple, he needs to ensure Selina’s safety. So Gordon decided to take her to Bruce and stay in his manor. Alfred wasn’t so thrilled about her presence while Bruce was more than fine to let her stay in his house. But he did ask if Gordon believes in Selina, to which he said yes. That’s enough for Bruce to trust Selina.

Gordon also got a note from Barbara that says that their relationship was now over. Barbara’s mind was still so messed up due to the incident that happened last episode.

The villain of this week was Ian Hargrove, an expert in explosives. He was sent to jail, but he never got treated for his mental illness.

Our first look at Harvey was, of course, with a coin and playing heads or tails with a juvenile offender. He also met up with Gordon and his men. He believed that Dick Lovercraft was behind the murder of Wayne couple. He suggested that they leak that information so that they could get to Lovercraft. Dent had Lovercraft in his office. He told him that they have evidence that he was behind the crime, but Lovercraft got insulted. Dent told him that he’s coming for him. In this scene, we saw how Dent can easily change from calm to violent to calm again.

Back at the Wayne manor, Selina was telling Bruce that his boxing lessons with Alfred may be a great thing, but he can’t make full use of that in the streets of Gotham. Basically, Selina wants Bruce to learn how to be street-smart because that’ll be his number one advantage to survive in the streets. Alfred wasn’t still thrilled with Selina. It was until he caught Bruce and Selina having a food fight, and he saw Bruce smile and happy. That’s when he changed his mind and let Selina stay.

We also learned in this episode that Fish was working with the Russians. She was the one who asked Hargrove to be freed so she could use his bombing expertise. She did this because she wants to break in Falcone’s vault. The plan didn’t go so well because Gordon and Bullock got to them. Fish wasn’t really disappointed because she just wants to make Falcone suffer.

Hargrove was then sent to Arkham for his mental illness. It has been revealed that the mayor has decided to treat criminals in the asylum because they are the ones who are starting trouble in Gotham.

Gordon called Barbara to take her back, but Barbara didn’t pick up. She just listened while lying in bed until an arm embraced her. It was Montoya.
