‘Graceland’ Season Three Finale And Post-Mortem: ‘No Old Tigers’
The finale of the third season of “Graceland” aired last Thursday, September 17, 21015 at 10:00 PM on USA Network. The third season was quite a ride, and just as the executive producers hinted at, ICE Agent Dale “DJ” Jakes (Brandon Jay McLaren) was thrust into the spotlight, and ended with him, and the aftermath of the events of the finale, with regards to the others, which will hopefully be picked up if the show is renewed for another season. Aside from this, executive producer Jeff Eastin conducted a series of post-mortems in which there’s a glimpse of what might happen next to the agents of Graceland if they are indeed given another season. WARNING: This article contains spoilers and a recap of the season finale of the third season of “Graceland”- “Graceland” Season 3 Episode 13 “No Old Tigers.” Read on to learn more about what happened in this episode, and what might happen in Season 4.
The episode began with Courtney Gallo (Annie Ilonzeh) and Dale “DJ” Jakes (Brandon Jay McLaren) packing the stolen ATF money into their suitcases, as they headed back to Los Angeles.
While this happened, FBI Agent Paul Briggs (Daniel Sunjata) convinced FBI Special Agent-in- charge Sean Logan (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.), who knew that Briggs had orchestrated everything, to sign off on the Homeland Security report so that Martun Sarkissian (Peter Stormare) could be put away forever. However, Logan told him that FBI Agent Mike Warren (Aaron Tveit) would have to sign off on it as well, which he didn’t want to do.
Later on, Mike informed the rest of the house, sans Briggs, that he was going to tell the truth, and told everyone to get lawyers, which caused FBI Agent Johnny Tuturro (Manny Montana) and DEA Agent Paige Arkin (Serinda Swan) to begin questioning their own motives as they do feel like criminals, while FBI Agent Catherine “Charlie” de Marco (Vanessa Ferlito) tried to figure out a way for a better solution. Jakes then revealed that he had stolen money from the ATF operation for Briggs and told them to let him leave, as Jakes wasn’t going to jail, and he wasn’t going to put Briggs in prison, as Briggs had helped him cover up the fact that Jakes had murdered a sex offender who lived beside the house of his ex-wife and young son.
Jakes then shaved his head, and after realizing that Courtney was the only thing worth living for now, fought with Johnny, who was decorating Charlie’s Christmas Tree, and tearfully walked out of the door, to flee with Courtney.
Meanwhile, Mike decided to sign off on the report in exchange for several demands, such as allowing Gusti “Vin” Kadek Pendit (Mahedi Rakib) to return home to Bali. As he walked out of the FBI building, he saw the red birds in his vision.
While this happened, Briggs met up with Ari Adamian (Rhys Coiro), and they were immediately gunned down and driven into an abandoned building by the Soto Street gang. After hearing Charlie’s and Paige’s voices outside, Briggs, who was already injured, walked out, but a trigger happy Ari decided to gun down the remaining Soto Street gang members, causing Briggs to shoot the already injured man, again. Paige then dragged Charlie outside, after realizing that Ari had to die or else they would all go to jail.

After talking for a while with each other, Briggs shot him in the head. The group then returned to the house, where Mike told them what had happened to Johnny and Jakes. Mike then looked out into the horizon, Charlie comforted Johnny, Paige looked right at the audiences, and Briggs, after setting the small Christmas Tree straight, by the fireplace and stared out.
In a post mortem interview that executive producer Jeff Eastin had with Entertainment Weekly, it was revealed that Briggs’ stance, and the song played at the end was a big clue as to the future of the Graceland house- that even though the others might leave, Briggs will always be at Graceland.
Eastin also mentioned that with regards to Mike’s purpose and his near death experience visions, Mike had managed to fulfill what he was meant to do, and that was to save Vin.
The writers are also very much invested in Paige as a character, as she is quickly coming to know who she really is.
It was also teased that that there are still a lot of things that are unknown about Courtney, even to Jakes himself, which will make things interesting if there is a season four, which means that there will probably be a manhunt for him during the premiere.
It was also clarified that the struggle with Johnny was more mental and emotional than physical.
