‘Gravity Falls’ Season 3: A Possible Crossover With ‘Rick and Morty?’
Alex Hirsch has hinted that even though “Gravity Falls” is ending after “Weirdmageddon 3,” which is set to air next year that there might be more to Dipper and Mabel’s story after all. Will Disney XD reboot the series for another season?
According to Vine Report, Hirsch hasn’t really give fans the reason as to why he decided to end “Gravity Falls” but speculations arise that it might be because there have been a lot of theories as to how Season 2 will end that Hirsch is finding it difficult to create a twist for the series. He remains optimistic, though, saying that there is a possibility for more.
As for the reboot, Hirsch is quite open about it as he is not dismissing the at idea. In fact, this then leads to a certain speculation about a crossover between “Gravity Falls” and “Rick and Morty.” Indeed, both series have a different target audience but they might find a common ground in which they can make the crossover work.
This speculation is due to the fact that Hirsch is friends with “Rick and Morty” creator, Justin Roiland. Some fans have also given their observation that upon watching both shows, they have found some clues feature in some of the episodes, which strengthens the theory surrounding the “Rick and Morty” and “Gravity Falls” crossover.
According to Hirsch, “I remember when I was a kid, whenever you’d see cartoons cross over with each other, it always ranged from a delightful, magical surprise to a cynical, annoying cash grab. So far, we’ve found that these little winking nods between our shows strike the right balance. I can’t say whether or not there will be more, but I can say that we like to confuse and amuse people so who knows.”
