“Grey’s Anatomy” season 12 spoilers revealed that Ellen Pompeo could soon be leaving the ABC series. Several reports have confirmed that Meredith Grey will no longer part of the coming episodes.

According to “Grey’s Anatomy” season 12 spoilers from Yibada, Ellen Pompeo, who plays Meredith Grey in the medical TV series would soon leave the show, following Patrick Dempsey’s exit. It has long been rumored that the actress wanted to pursue other roles apart from the Shonda Rhimes drama.


Zap2It reported that the coming episodes will focus on Meredith’s battle with her Alzheimer’s disease. This arc has long been overdue given the fact that viewers were already made aware of her sickness during season 1. The website further pointed out that the “Grey’s Anatomy” writers were preparing fans of the departure of Meredith, evident in season 11.

The departure of Ellen Pompeo’s character Meredith Grey could not come as a surprise to many given that show creator Shonda Rhimes is not afraid to shake things up. Some fans may still be grieving from the death of McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) but Rhimes has already moved on. Rumor has it, she is already looking for someone to replace him.

TV Line has reported that Shonda Rhimes is looking for new male doctor in his late 30s-40s to portray a new character. Many have speculated that he new doctor will take the place of Patrick Dempsey and play as Ellen Pompeo’s onscreen partner. It was said that the actor has to be “good looking, charismatic and believable as a surgeon.”
