Grey’s Anatomy’s Cast Members Shocked By Patrick Dempsey’s Death On Series

When “Grey’s Anatomy” actor Patrick Dempsey was fired from the series, fans immediately took to Twitter to create an online petition, demanding for his return. Turns out, it was not only the fans who were surprised by his exit, but also the cast members.

As reported by Christian Today, most of the “Grey’s Anatomy” cast were unaware of the upcoming plot twist. McDreamy’s death definitely came as a surprise. They did not know that Meredith and Derek’s love story will end in a tragedy.

In an interview with ABC news last Thursday, James Pickens Jr. (Dr. Richard Webber) revealed that the entire cast was surprised when they found out that Derek will die.

“We didn’t know a whole lot. It was kind of on the fly. So whatever information we got, we pretty much got it kind of right before it happened,” he said.

Pickens added that the entire cast was saddened by the management’s decision to let go of Patrick Dempsey. The two were original cast members back when the show debuted in 2005. He added that the series rduld not be where it was today without Dempsey, calling him an iconic character.

“He’s a very talented guy. His character has become iconic. I mean, it’s part of the lexicon of TV.”

Meanwhile, it has long been rumored that Dempsey had been fired from “Grey’s Anatomy” because he was having an affair with a much-younger staff. His wife, Jillian Fink, was without a doubt devastated when she heard the news. Showrunner Shonda Rhimes would not have all this drama on the set, which pushed her to fire the actor.
