‘GTA’ Movie Casts Bill Paxton as Grand Theft Auto Villain

It looks like the “Grand Theft Auto” movie has just added another actor to its roster of stars, as Bill Paxton is reportedly joining the cast and will star as Jack Thompson alongside Daniel Radcliffe. Read on to learn more about this scoop.

Bill Paxton will play the role of anti-Grand Theft Auto activist, Jack Thompson. According to reports, Thompson was against video games and has consistently pursued his case against GTA from 2003 until 2008, when the Florida Bar disbarred him.

Among the list of Thompson’s crusades include an offer to donate $10,000 to charity if someone makes a video game about killing Paul Eibeler (CEO of Take-Two Interactive). According to iDigital Times, someone really made a game about that, but Thompson did not live up to his promise of donating to charity. Thompson also tried to sue Walmart for selling GTA and filed another case against GTA publisher Take-Two Interactive for being responsible for the ‘psycho’ behavior of two teenagers.

Thompson believed that the game had a connection with a number of murder cases and said that the game taught kids how to kill.

“He got Howard Stern kicked off the radio and took on 2 Live Crew… He would write hateful letters to people he was litigating,” said Paxton about Thompson, wrote Deadline.

Paxton is no stranger to video games, as the star has previously voiced over for “Call Of Duty.” He will also star as Sam Houston in Mip-TV’s “Texas Rising,” which premieres on Monday.

Paxton will star alongside “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe, who will take on the role of Sam Houser, the co-founder of Rockstar Games. Rockstar Games is the company behind “Grand Theft Auto,” “Red Dead” and “Max Payne.”

Owen Harris, who directed “Kill Your Friends” and “Misfits” will be directing the film while James Wood will be penning the script. Mark Hedgecoe and Jim Spencer will be producing. Filming begins next week in South Africa.

The “GTA” movie will be titled, “Grand Theft Auto.” The 90-minute BBC film is based on the 2012 book, “Jacked: The Outlaw Story Of Grand Theft Auto” written by David Kushner.
