‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2:’ Star-Lord’s Father Revealed in the Most Important Easter egg!
The moment or rather the father everyone has been waiting for since “Guardians of the Galaxy” stormed the box office has finally been revealed. Ever since the movie ended, fans have been trying to figure out who the father of Star-Lord is and with so many guesses flying around, it only came across as really surprising when this particular hero’s name was revealed.
According to Screen Rant, when Peter’s mother was dying because of cancer in “Guardians of the Galaxy” she described Peter’s father as an angel/jackass while in the end Nova Corps determined his father to be of a race that hasn’t been seen for a while. It was in the same scene that the most important Easter egg was hidden, which until now wasn’t found.
From what has been heard constantly and confirmed by multiple sources, Peter’s father is none other than Captain Marvel aka Mar-Vell himself! Mar-Vell was the first Captain Marvel who also happened to be Kree Empire’s military officer who was sent on Earth to spy on them. But the time he spent on Earth made him more attached and understanding of humans and eventually he became their hero. According to the comics, Kree later disavowed him and Captain Marvel further established himself as a superhero occasionally collaborating with the Avengers.
Currently, casting is on for Star-Lord’s father and it is being believed that for the movie’s sake his father’s race will be changed so even if it is Captain Marvel he might not really belong to the Kree Empire, he could be of some other ancient race who has been extinct for a long time. Imagine if Star-Lord could actually hold an Infinity Stone in the palm of his hand, his half-alien origin from his father’s side must belong to some really powerful and ancient race in the Universe.
Cinema Blend added quite an obvious response from director James Gunn who mentioned that the widely speculated father of Star-Lord is not Mar-Vell and in fact it is not even close to the truth.
Quite honestly, I personally think Starfox could be Star-Lord’s father. There are a few instances to prove it. Following the description that Peter’s mother gave to him, Starfox was a complete tool as he was known to be a womanizer and belonged to Titan where his actual name was Eros. His activities were widely opposed by his brother Thanos and more or less the rest of the universe. He showed his heroic side when he fought against Thanos with the few remaining Eternals on the planet Titan and also had a quite collaboration with Avengers on Earth. Only once “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2” releases, we will know who the father is.
