Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Hellboy 3′ Is The Biggest Movie In The Trilogy
Guillermo del Toro, director of “Crimson Peak,” and “Hellboy” franchise star Ron Perlman have been discussing the third installment of “Hellboy” for a long period of time. Read on for more details.
According to Screen Rant, “Hellboy 3” would be the biggest movie in the trilogy, which Perlman declared that “completing the trilogy is an obligation.”
While both “Hellboy” and “Hellboy II: The Golden Army” was profitable, the green signal for “Hellboy 3” was not seen as the second installment of the trilogy was not a massive box office success.
After the success of 2017’s “Pacific Rim 2,” Del Toro is now concentrating towards “Hellboy 3.” In fact, the director described the third installment of the “Hellboy” trilogy is a “big movie” and is “bigger [more ambitious and costly] than the first two,” during the TCA (Television Critic’s Association) press rounds.
However, the “Hellboy 3” is not in active development at present due to the budget issue. Del Toro’s estimated budget for the third installment of the series is around $120 million. Hence, crowdfunding was not a realistic means. Moreover, Perlman is stubborn that the fans should not have to fund the film, and rejected the idea of crowdfunding.
“Hellboy II” box office reception was not a massive success as expected though the film was profitable. This turned out to be the main problem for “Hellboy 3” even though the budget issue is a reason.
According to Cinema Blend, Perlman stated that the fans, who liked the first two films of the “Hellboy” franchise, would definitely be overwhelmed by the third film.
Is it possible that the third installment of the trilogy could be successful with such as huge budget and long delay after the second installment? However, fans have to decrease their expectations about the still unmade “Hellboy 3” in spite of Guillermo del Toro and Perlman’s desire to complete the trilogy.
