According to Comic Book, Taymor revealed that Simba is never going to return to become king, almost never. In fact, he will move to Las Vegas where he will find himself in a battle. Simba will first head on to desert to move towards jungle from where he reaches Vegas at the end.
She also revealed that the team is planning to introduce a new entry on the show as Papa Croc the new villain of “The Lion King Musical.” Papa Croc is said to strike a deal with Scar to buy water rights of the kingdom and later channelizing it to desert oasis.
Simba out of mistake will consider Croc as the father figure since he has never seen the love and affection of his father. Simba’s father is Mufasa dies during the end of first act of the show similar to the movie. Papa Croc later tricks Simba and forces him to fight against other animals in Coliseum.
Disney Theatrical finds it a bit weird ending for a musical show and is not very happy with the idea, though Julie Taymor on the other hand does not believe on sticking to a happy ending always as projected in Disney. She believes that crazy alternating ending would be fun to make.
“The Lion King Musical” has been one of the highest grossing productions from Hall of Fame.
