Harry Christmas! J. K. Rowling Releases Dumbledore Memories on Pottermore [WATCH VIDEO]
“Harry Potter” fans haunting Pottermore were overjoyed when best-selling author J. K. Rowling released Dumbledore’s pensive memories on Pottermore early this week. The catch: solve a (very easy) riddle before gaining access to the Hogwarts headmaster’s stories.
The memories take us back to “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince,” when Dumbledore first met the young Tom Riddle. And as we all know, Riddle grows up to be the malevolent Lord Voldemort.
But that’s all we’re going to say about that. First, you have to solve the riddle. It’s quite simple really. Head on to Pottermore and wrap your head around this:
“In an orphanage in London where Tom Riddle resides, a suited wizard visits him, it’s quite a surprise. After showing the boy magical tricks of all sorts, which future headmaster offers him a place at Hogwarts?”
Post your answer, and you instantly get access to Dumbledore’s yet unpublished memories.
The released stories form part of Rowling’s 12 Days of Harry Potter Christmas presents to her fans. Each day, leading up to Dec. 23, 2014, the author will be releasing a brief story and even visuals of new Harry Potter chronicles that haven’t been read before, not even in fan fiction.
We’re currently on Day 5 of her list. Earlier, Rowling revealed new insights on Florean Fortescue and the history of the Leaky Cauldron — the magical pub hangout of wizards and witches, and the famed gateway to Diagon Alley.
She also divulged exciting details about Cokeworth (no, not the soda), Lily Potter’s hometown, which also happens to be Snape’s, which also happens to be the pivotal setting where snarky Severus made The Unbreakable Vow with Narcissa Malfoy.
Each time, Potter fans have to answer a riddle to unlock the festive surprise Rowling has prepared.
These new revelations follow other surprising tidbits the author has released in the past, such as the fact that Dumbledore was gay, and harbored an infatuation with his childhood BFF, Gellert Grindelwald, whom we all know grew up to become a dark wizard.
