Hawaii Five-0 Season 5: Casting Updates

“Hawaii Five-0” premieres on CBS on Friday, Sept. 26, 2014. In a week’s time, before the upcoming season airs, the show did some casting updates. Read on to learn more about this scoop.

It is always a moment of rejoicing when a beloved or well-liked recurring character is promoted as a series regular. Such is the case for actor Jorge Garcia, who, according to this website, has been promoted to a series regular. Garcia portrays the role of a school teacher named Jerry Ortega, who is a conspiracy theory specialist.

According to TV Line, another addition to the cast for this season is actress Amanda Setton, who will be portraying the recurring character of Dr. Mindy Shaw. Dr. Shaw, a medical examiner, will be Dr. Max Bergman’s (Masi Oka) newest trainee. Setton is best known for her role in the shortlived Robin Williams and Sarah Michell-Gellar sitcom, “The Crazy Ones,” which aired from 2013 to 2014. In the comedy series, she portrayed Lauren Slotsky, who was an assistant and secretary. Aside from that, her other acting credits include “One Life to Live” (2009 to 2011), “Gossip Girl” (2008 to 2012), and “The Mindy Project” (2012 to 20013).

Another character that is highly speculated upon is actress Michelle Borth’s Catherine Rollins. Towards the end of the fourth season, Rollins left Hawaii, and Steve McGarrett (Alex O’ Loughlin) in order to go back to Afghanistan. However, the two characters will be trying to maintain a long-distance relationship. As she and McGarrett have some unfinished business, it is safe to say that she will return, maybe for an episode or two, in order for the audience to have some closure with her character.
