‘Hawaii Five-0’ Recap: ‘Ka Papahana Holo Pono (Best Laid Plans)’

”Hawaii Five-0” Season 6 Episode 4 “Ka Papahana Holo Pono (Best Laid Plans)” aired last Friday, October 16, 2015 at 9:00 PM on CBS. In this episode, the discovery of the body of a dead recluse with around a million dollars of counterfeit money led the team to a race against time to discover the connection between the recluse and a woman who had just been kidnapped in the name of stealing a very particular piece of art work. Meanwhile, Adam Noshimuri  (Ian Anthony Dale) was forced to get his hands dirty after Goro Shiyoma’s men kidnapped him in order to interrogate one of Gabriel Waincroft’s (Chirstopher Sean) most trusted lieutenants in order to get Gabriel’s current location. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode began with Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett (Alex O’ Loughlin) still saddened over Lieutenant Catherine Rollins’ (Michelle Borth) departure.

Meanwhile, a hippie couple gathering plants and herbs in the forest for their business of home made beauty products stumbled across some money coming from the person of an old dead man who had been killed by an arrow through his chest.

The couple were arrested after they tried to buy an expensive car using the cash as it turned out that the money was counterfeit and had belonged to a dead criminal whose death the team had investigated in the previous episode.

It turned out that the old man had been killed accidentally while a hunter was in the forest, but Dr. Max Bergman’s (Masi Oka) age progression software managed to identify the victim, after reversing the process, as Harrison Crane, a rich real estate heir who suddenly became a recluse and hadn’t been seen in twenty years.

Detective Lieutenant Chin Ho Kelly (Daniel Dae Kim), Jerry Ortega (Jorge Garcia) and Captain Lou Grover (Chi McBride) went over to Crane’s mansion, assisted by the maid, Susan Barnes (Julia Marie Buis), where they found that Crane had been in contact with a woman named Laura Ioane (Lauren Murata), whom they later discovered was the child of Crane’s former girlfriend, and was being provided for with a trust fund in her name by Crane. After checking phone logs, they discovered that Laura had been kidnapped and that Crane had been in the forest for a ransom drop.

They then also brought in Gerard Hirsch (Willie Garson), a suspicious art appraiser who had been caught once by Officer Kono Kalakaua (Grace Park), as his prints were all over the fake bills.

It turned out that he had bought an Edward Hopper painting from Crane yesterday night as he had been desperate for the cash, but had no idea that the money was counterfeit.

After being released from holding, he immediately went back to the Five-0 Task Force as the kidnapper called him and demanded the painting in exchange for the girl.

However, as he had sold the painting, which was actually a stolen piece of art, to a Russian crime lord, the team chased them down and manged to get the painting back just in time for the second ransom call, where the kidnapper gave Hirsch instructions as to where to go for the drop. However, the kidnapper was careful enough to make Hirsch shake off Lou and Kono by making him dump the current phone he had and made him buy new clothes as his shirt had been wired.

However, Hirsch managed to alert Lou where the kidnapper was going, and Steve and Chin Ho gave chase until the kidnapper was rammed into by an oncoming truck.

After using his cellphone to call up his partner, they discovered that Crane’s maid, Susan, had arranged the entire thing in order to give her son, the kidnapper, some money.

They then managed to rescue Laura, who had been hidden in a shallow well on the estate grounds.

Later that night, at a local bar, the group ran into NFL Star Jerry Rice, who agreed to giving them an autograph for Detective Sergeant Danny Williams (Scott Caan) who was currently recuperating from the bone marrow transplant for his young son, Charlie. They then managed to get  a picture with him.

Meanwhile, while Kono was at work, Adam Noshimuri (Ian Anthony Dale) was kidnapped by Goro Shiyoma’s men, and was forced to try and get information regarding Gabriel Waincroft’s (Christopher Sean) location from one of his trusted lieutenant, Aaron James (Michael Maize). Adam ended up using physical force, which yielded nothing as he really did not know Gabriel’s current location. Afterwards, he was shot dead by Shiyoma’s men, who told Adam to come up with the money soon.

Later, at home, he lied to Kono and told her that his day had been great.

Do you think Adam’s lies will soon catch up to him? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
