Here They Come to Save the Day: Superhero Movies to Watch Out For
The year 2014 was the year for superhero movies. From “Guardians of the Galaxy” to “Big Hero 6,” the movie industry looked to superhero movies to save the day and make a killing at the box office.
But it doesn’t stop there. This year, we will be seeing a lot of caped crusaders in the big screen and here are some of them:
- “Avengers: Age of Ultron”
The first offering of this movie franchise made a ton of money not only because of the star power of its cast but also thanks to the awesome writing and directing by Marvel aficionado Jess Whedon.
In their next installment, the Avengers are once again reunited by force when their self-appointed leader, billionaire Tony Stark, starts an undeveloped program to keep the peace, with dire consequences of course. The second part will also bring in new characters such Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Tayor-Johnson as the children of Magneto, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. This movie is also the starting point of another Marvel Universe storyline, the Civil War.
The rumor has been confirmed. Paul Rudd is playing Ant-Man. Several teasers and trailers have been released and so far what’s known right now is that Rudd will be playing Michael Douglas’ protégé and enlists his help in pulling off a heist.
- “The Fantastic Four”
This reboot has everyone feeling a whole range of emotion. From confusion to outright internet rage, the several announcements made by the production studio regarding heroes’ storyline and that of Dr. Doom’s is making everyone’s tongues wag on cyberspace.
Everyone in cyberspace jumped for joy after 20th Century Fox not only announce that they will make the Deadpool movie but will also cast Ryan Reynolds in the role. It seems that Reynolds’ viral Deadpool video convinced studio executives that they have found their guy.
- “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice”
DC Comics, not to be outdone, is pulling out the Big Three. In “Batman v. Superman,” we’ll see a more older and rougher Batman, played by Ben Affleck, go against Superman, still played by Henry Cavill. This will also be an introduction to Wonder Woman played by Gal Gadot, with the appearances from other DC heroes notably from the Justice League.
There you have it for the superhero movies to watch out for. Keep tabs on Movie News Guide (MNG) for more movie updates.
