Heroes of the Storm: New Brawl Mode Adds Madness
Blizzard has introduced a new mode in action arena game Heroes of the Storm called the Brawl mode. The rules of the game change every week and give an all new game. The game was launched on Oct. 17.
Heroes of the Storm Brawl mode breaks all the existing rules. Blizzard describes the game as delightful madness with surreal twists and custom rulesets.
There are three kinds of Arenas:
Punisher Arena — gain points by killing enemy heroes and Punishers. The first team that gets 100 points wins.
Temple Arena — goal is to capture Temples and use their energy beams to destroy enemy core.
Garden Arena — Kill the Garden Terrors and Shamblers, collect their seeds. The first team to collect 100 seeds wins.
There are four types of heroes to choose from after Heroes of Storm training:
Warrior — Durable, has crowd control abilities, draws attention from weaker teammates.
Assassin — Quick and causes high damage, has low health.
Support — Cannot handle too much damage, great healing or boosting abilities.
Specialist — Wildcards, can be used to destroy enemy buildings, crowd control or buffs.
Next are Mutators, which are basically modifiers, with wild rule sets and unique mechanics that drastically change how one plays Heroes of the Storm. Three have been revealed recently including Hammer Time, where everyone gets Hover Tanks with thrusters permanently engaged. Their invulnerable cores make capturing towers easy.
CinemaBlend says that Mutators are things of the past and were phased out after the 1990s. Blizzard is bringing these back. Blizzard is designing many more of them, which will be introduced every week.
There is also a Single Lane option that is One-lane Battleground with no objectives, Mercenaries or Hearthstone to distract one from destroying the enemy Core.
The arenas, mutators, rules and mechanics change every week. One has to click the Brawl Info button in the lower-left corner of the screen to get detailed information about the currently active Brawl.
Blizzard plans to unveil many more arenas, mutators and single-lane battlegrounds in the coming weeks. Players can earn up to 1,000 gold if they play in three brawls a week.
