Hollywood Pays Homage to X Factor Star Simone Battle [WATCH VIDEO]

Californian singer Simone Battle of the hit girl band G.R.L. has been found dead  at the age of 25 in her West Hollywood home. She rose to celebrity status in 2011 after an appearance on the US version of X Factor.  She made it through to the final 17. Battle was judged on the X Factor by Cheryl Cole, LA Reid, Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell during the show. Read on to learn more about Movie News Guide’s (MNG) report about how friends, fellow singers and celebrities expressed their grief on Battle’s tragic demise.

According to MailOnline, Anthony E. Battle, Simone’s father, confirmed the news to the publication. She was found dead in her West Hollywood apartment on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014.


Battle has sent her last tweet on Wednesday, telling her 30,000 twitter followers.


The unfortunate news of her death was announced by her childhood friend and musician Derek Butler: “I’d give it all to hear your sweet song once more… I don’t believe. I can’t breathe. Wake me please,” tweeted Butler.

News of her sudden death has left her fans and mentors reeling in shock. Battle’s “X Factor” family, friends, fellow singers and celebrities expressed their despair on various social media platforms.

“We are greatly saddened to learn the tragic news about Simone Battle. Our hearts and prayers go out to her family and friends,” wrote TheXFactorUSA.

UK X Factor judge and Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole also paid tribute to the USA X Factor contestant.

“Such tragically sad news to hear of the passing of Simone battle.. My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones #RIPSimone,” wrote Cheryl on Twitter.

Union J’s George Shelley, who appeared on the UK X Factor, has also been left confounded by the news. “I don’t know what to say. I’m so upset. RIPSimone,” tweeted George Shelley

“I am so sad to hear about the news Simone Battle has passed away. She was such a fun nice person. It’s such a loss. Rest in peace Simone,” tweeted X Factor judge SimonCowell.

“My heart & prayers go out 2 @GRLSimone’s family, band mates, & loved ones. Such a beautiful sweet promising star. May she rest in peace. xoP,” shared  X Factor judge Paula Abdul.

“Devastated & upset to hear about the passing of @GRLSimone. My prayers go out to her family @robinantinpcd @GRL & my ReignDeer family,” wrote Nicole Scherzinger

The statement from RCA Records, Reign Deer Entertainment, Robin Antin and Kemosabe Records which confirmed the singer’s demise read: ‎“We are deeply saddened by the tragic news of the loss of Simone Battle of G.R.L. Simone was an exceptional young talent and human being, and we are all devastated to learn of her passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones at this time.”
