‘Homeland’ Actor Damian Lewis Eyeballed For 007 Role, Daniel Craig Still Not Ready To Pass ‘James Bond’ Baton After Spectre?
“Homeland” star Damian Lewis is apparently being considered to be the next James Bond. The 44-year-old British actor is at the top of the apex to be the next secret agent who will be dressing to the nines. Read on for more details.
According to a report from the Sunday Mirror, the Golden Globe winner has been given an “unofficial nod” that he will be taking over the vacated spot of fellow countryman Daniel Craig.
Lewis has been noted to portray characters of American origin as the actor has a knack for mimicking a flawless American accent. The “Band of Brothers” actor is also much younger than Craig by three years. If Lewis in the near future will be the next James Bond then he will be the first ginger-haired agent.
The 47-year-old Craig who will be donning the suit and tie once more in “Spectre” this coming November is insinuated of finally calling it a day for his James Bond alter-ego. Craig is the seventh actor to flesh out on screen Ian Fleming’s suave British Secret Service agent. The “Road to Perdition” actor began his international fame in “Casino Royal” (2006), “Quantum of Solace” (2008), and “Skyfall” (2012).
With all these claims of Craig ready to step down from his role and having a last hurrah with “Spectre,” an avalanche of actors have been clamored by fans to carry on the role of not just beating out bad guys with sophisticated guns, vehicles and gadgets but also bedding numerous alluring women from all over the globe.
In an article from Esquire, the magazine made a who’s who entry of the possible actors and actresses to portray James Bond after the Daniel Craig-era. Topping the list was everybody’s favorite The Wire actor Idris Elba followed closely by the aforementioned Lewis described as “The Betting Man’s Bond.|” Actresses Gugu Mbatha-raw (“Jupiter Ascending”) and Rebecca Ferguson (“Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation”) were also given kudos if James Bond will ever turn into a female spy.
However, in a report from the Toronto Sun, Craig was singing a different note which took on the form of him not yet willing to hand over the responsibilities of being James Bond.
“It’s getting easier because I’m doing less (stunt work). I’ve got so many good doubles… I work myself to death (for the role),” Craig revealed to the magazine.
