Hugh Jackman Wants Tom Hardy to Succeed Him as Wolverine
Hugh Jackman seems to be ‘adamant’ that “Wolverine 3” is his last turn with the claws and that we will be passing the trademark white vest and jacket for a younger actor to play Wolverine.Watch him make his choice, just after this break. Read on.
Jackman recently sat down with Collider to speak all things “Wolverine 3,” which supposedly focuses on a father-son angle between the resplendent Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and his character. He also clarified that “Wolverine 3” would be his last outing with the adamantium claws.
“I feel that I’m pushing harder than I’ve ever pushed before. I suppose the stakes just go up when you announce before your last season that this is your last season, you don’t want one game to not be your best… People ask me, ‘How are you gonna be able to let it go?’ To me the only way you can let it go is if you left blood every day on the studio floor.”
And of course, this brings us to the very vexing horns (or claws?) of the dilemma: Who is our next Wolverine? Well, Tom Hardy, at least according to Jackman in his recent interview with MTV to promote “Pan.”
“I am sure they’re already talking about it. To some actor they’ve said, “Keep it quiet, but we want you next”.. He is younger than me sure, I think Tom Hardy.” Jackman said.
Of course, Hardy is currently a forerunner to play James Bond after Daniel Craig’s supposed to last outing as the spy in “Spectre,” Variety is reporting. He is also set to make the Hollywood adaptation of Vertigo comic book “100 Bullets.” This may be too many roles to play, even for somebody as obviously talented as Hardy.
But there is a while to go before “Wolverine 3”, and its successor and in the meantime Jackman appears as the pirate Blackbeard in the upcoming “Pan” (Oct. 8, 2015), whereas you may spot Hardy abandoning Leo DiCaprio in the woods in Alejandro Inarritu’s “Revenant” (Dec 25, 2015.
