The media outlets cannot keep their eyes off “The Vampire Diaries”, as the show continues its trend of spinning and spreading speculations. Now, a new assumption is sparking the fire of rumors and that solely revolves around the show’s male protagonist. The actor Ian Somerhalder lately sat down to converse his opinion about the seventh season of the CW show. Many fans are anxious that there may be a possibility to cancel the show.

Somerhalder revealed he had qualms about “The Vampire Diaries” continuing after his co-star and ex-flame Nina Dobrev left the show. He is heard commenting that post the departure of Dobrev, it will be a huge challenge for the show that may change the typical formula of the celebrated television series.

Previously it was reported that “The Vampire Diaries” stars, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have been targeted by rumors, ever since they broke up and Nikki Reed came into the picture. However, it was not the only controversy that surrounds the former couple. Rumor has it says that when Elena was axed from the show, the staff reportedly have been expressing that they would rather choose the actor to leave the teen series than Dobrev!

“The Vampire Diaries” star continued to talk about Damon’s future and hinted that episode 10 will concentrate on his character. There will also be a few flashback scenes of Damon’s experiences in the Civil War, so it is possible that the coming episode will delve into the Salvatore family’s dysfunctional relationship. Somerhalder also revealed that Debbie Chow is going to direct the said episode and he pointed out that he is more than happy to be working with female directors because “they are much more in tune with the human psyche.”

Aside from Somerhalder talking about “The Vampire Diaries,” the CW recently announced that the show will be moving to Friday nights after the winter hiatus. “The Vampire Diaries” will air at 8p.m. ET when the show returns and some fans are concerned that it will be cancelled, writes Carter Matt. However, there is a chance that the move could boost ratings since “The Vampire Diaries” will be paired with its sister show “The Originals” and fans can watch both shows all in one night.

The next episode of “The Vampire Diaries” will air on December 3 on CW.
