Illumination Entertainment and Universal Picture’s ‘Minions’ Crossed $1 Billion Mark At The Box Office: Third Highest-Grossing Animated Film Ever!

YAHOO! Movies reported that “Minion,” directed by Pierre Coffin And Kyle Balda, has the credit of becoming the third highest grossing animated film ever as it has “grossed $682 million internationally” and “$321.9 million domestically.” It also has the pride of becoming, so far, the top grossing animated film of 2015.
Universal Pictures owns the pride of having their three films exceeding $1 billion at the worldwide box office in a single year, thus making an industry record. The studio’s “Furious 7” has grossed $1.51 billion, “Jurassic World” has grossed $1.628 billion, and now “Minions,” has grossed $1 billion and continuing.
The source further reported that the other animated films that have exceeded $1 billion grossing are Disney’s “Frozen” that has grossed $1.274 billion, and Pixar’s “Toy Story 3” that has grossed $1.06 billion.
According to THE WRAP, Illumination Entertainment’s 2015 animated film “Minion” has the grossing rate next to two films “Frozen” and “Toy Story 3,” that have grossed $1.3 billion and $1.06 billion, respectively.
The five films “Minions,” “The Lorax,” “Despicable Me,” “Despicable Me 2” and “Hop,” that were released by Illumination Entertainment grossed over $3 billion worldwide, reported the source.
Universal and Illumination Entertainment are having a pretty nice weekend, and are expecting much more from “Minions.” The 2015 animated film is set to release in Turkey, China and Greece on September 4, 13 and 24, respectively, after it’s release in Italy. Hence, the film’s international grossing is expected to increase much more.
