Inmates At Women’s Prison Surprised By Kate Middleton’s Visit
Kate Middleton, The Duchess of Cambridge, had an unusual plan in her visit list. She was recently seen at women’s prison near Woking, Surrey. According to reports sent out by dailymail.co.uk, the princess surprised everyone by visiting the cell and talking to inmates who are battling drug and alcohol addiction.
To trick the media and for security purpose, Kate made a special request that her visit be kept secret till the time she is there at the prison. Above all, even the inmates living in the person were not informed that they are being visited by the Duchess of Cambridge. They were, however, made aware that they will be expecting a visitor.
Inmates were told about the identity of the visitor just as she was there. During her visit, Kate Middleton was wearing a grey and ivory tweed dress. RAPt, or Rehabilitation of Addicted Prisoners Trust had arranged for the visit of Kate Middleton.
At HMP, there are around 280 inmates, and many of the women who are here are serving the sentence for murder. The duchess is also a supporter of Action on Addiction charity and she spent some time talking to prisoners.
According to christianpost.com, one of the former inmates, Kristy, said that she was fortunate enough to talk to Her Royal Highness and she felt very good after talking to her. Lacey, another woman living in the prison said that many times when royals visit the prison it is mainly a show off, but it was something different this time. The duchess really showed some keen interest and wanted to help out the inmates.
A statement was released by Kensington Palace, a day after the visit was made by duchess. Kate expressed her thanks to all the inmates for sharing their thoughts and personal stories with her.
