‘Ip Man 3:’ Mike Tyson Chooses to Fight Donnie Yen in the Movie
If there is one Kung Fu legend the Chinese look up to, it is Ip Man. The legendary martial arts proponent trained the Tinseltown great Bruce Lee. The man lived a legendary life too – boosting Chinese confidence when Japan crushed them in the early years of the last century. So it was obvious who Mike Tyson would choose to fight next. It would obviously be the man who portrayed Ip Man in the movies about the master. Donnie Yen is going to fight Mike Tyson. But not for real. They are going to fight each other in the next installment in the sequel, “Ip Man 3.”
Asian Movie Pulse reported that when Mike Tyson first opened his account with the Chinese Microblogging site Weibo, he asked his Chinese fans, who was the best martial artist in the world? And the fans told him that it was Donnie Yen. So Mike was just waiting to take on Donnie Yen and when the producers offered him a script, he just took it.
However, it took a lot to convince Donnie Yen to do the third movie. He contested that he had been part of two great movies about Ip Man which are already being hailed as modern classics. He thought that a third movie will be too much of a good thing. After all, he had fought a boxer in movie number 2, but, wait, he was nothing like Mike Tyson. They finally got Yen to do his thing again.
But wait, this is not the best part. Twitch Film reported the news that the film’s producers Pegasus Motion Pictures were hard pressed to cast somebody who looked exactly like Bruce Lee, Ip Man’s most famous student. So what did they do? They used computer generated graphics to create scenes with Bruce Lee. Now doesn’t that sound exciting!
“Ip Man 3” is almost ready for the theaters and the film has been pulled from a 2016 release and has given a 2015 Christmas time release. The film releases on 24th December this year.
