Is Bobby Shmurda Dead After Reportedly Being Stabbed in Prison?
Fans went wild as reports about Bobby Shmurda’s death surface on the Internet. Is Bobby Shmurda dead, or is this another death hoax? Read on for more details.
A report was posted on Huzlers and claimed that rapper Bobby Shmurda was murdered by his cellmate who stabbed the rapper to death with a hidden pocket knife. The article was written by an author named “Warlock” and claimed that the cellmate who allegedly stabbed Bobby was Antwan Mauldin, 29.
“Although authorities are not sure what caused Mauldin to murder Bobby, it is believed Bobby Shmurda’s song lyrics and rap personality might have played a role,” the report stated.
The news site, however, is known for making satirical articles, which makes Shmurda’s death another celebrity death hoax.
News about how the rapper spent Christmas in jail was true, however, as confirmed by Shmurda’s lawyer Howard Greenberg in an interview with The FADER. Shmurda was arrested on Dec. 17, 2014 on charges, which, according to Hip Hop DX, include conspiracy to commit murder, possession of weapons, intent to sell narcotics, assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree on two counts. The rapper may face 8 to 25 years in prison if proven guilty of the said charges.
Shmurda was arrested while he was in his car parked at Quad Recording Studios 723 Seventh Avenue near Times Square, which, according to NY Times, was the same spot where rapper Tupac Shakur was killed in 1994. At the time of arrest, Shmurda reportedly had 16 weapons in his possession in his car. Fifteen people were arrested that night and was said to be the result of a two-year investigation by the NYPD’s Brooklyn South Violence Reduction Task Force.
Shmurda’s lawyer said that the $2 million bail set by Justice James Burke of Manhattan Supreme Court will be paid by Epic, Shmurda’s record label. Greenberg also said that his client was arrested because “the government hates rap and the government hates rappers” and claimed that the government forms a conspiracy to make his client look guilty of the crime.
Bobby “Hot Boy” Shmurda, whose real name is Ackquille Pollard, is known for his song “Hot N*gga,” which debuted the “shmoney dance” and has been included in the Billboard Hot 100.
