Jason Dohring Joining Veronica Mars Spinoff

Jason Dohring, one of the stars of “Veronica Mars,” a TV show that aired from 2004 to 2007, has confirmed that he is joining the spinoff series “Play it Again, Dick.” The show, which was confirmed in May 2014, will have Ryan Hanson reprise his “Veronica Mars” role as Dick Casablancas, which means Dohring will also be reprising the role of Logan Echolls. Speaking exclusively with theMusic.com.au, Dohring said that he was asked to become part of the spinoff weeks after its announcement. He also expressed excitement at the prospect of working alongside his TV buddy again and fondly called Hanson a “nice guy” who deserves to have his own show.

“Play It Again, Dick” will be written and produced by Rob Thomas who also created the “Veronica Mars” series and film version. But while the spinoff has no clear-cut airdate yet, citing that it is eyed for release later in 2014, the show has been confirmed to air on CW Seed, the online platform for The CW.

Dohring also hinted that a movie sequel to “Veronica Mars” could happen, following the success of the TV show’s first film incarnation, which was released in March 2014. He said that loose ends to the movie were intentional and that the film wasn’t meant to tie things up perfectly. He even suggested a storyline involving Keith Mars, a supporting figure in the series, who could end up exposing the corrupt police force. Dohring admitted, however, that he isn’t quite sure how this sequel will pan out since his on-screen partner, Kristin Bell, is pregnant with her second baby.

Thomas, meanwhile, is currently busy working on a new show “iZombie,” which is loosely based on a comic book series. The show is intended to become part of The CW’s midseason roster.
