Jennifer Lawrence on Katniss Everdeen, ‘This Character Is Overwhelmingly Supportive Of Women’ As She Bids Farewell To A ‘Huge Movie’
All good things eventually come to an end. As for Jennifer Lawrence, it is her role as Katniss Everdeen in the hit trilogy films based from Suzanne Collins novels. Fans of the movies lauded how she excellently gave justice to her character. What are her thoughts about the entire franchise movies and Katniss?
Lawrence expressed how thankful she being part of the movies, “I’m very grateful, I think I can say that on behalf of everyone here for the Hunger Games, I can’t remember your names. I’m just kidding, I know your names. Anyway, Liam?”
Hemsworth answered in heartwarming words, “I’m going to say to you guys that I’m honored to share it with you. Let’s just be friends forever.”
After the few statements, they permanently leave their prints (hand and feet) on the cement, sign their own names there, give some fans autographs.
In that same day, the trio held a press conference at Four Seasons Hotel wherein Lawrence replied to question regarding Katniss.
“I feel the impact of being part of such a huge movie that has meant so much for so many people, This character is overwhelmingly supportive of women, obviously, and this iconic, I don’t feel a personal impact, I think if you ever become aware of that it takes away from that a little bit, it’s the movie, and the characters…it’s kind of like your avatar self.” Lawrence said as reported by US Magazine.
Also, she shared that she bid farewell to her character twice in the two endings. Her own nephews portrayed her children in one of these endings and for her, it was “an amazing closure” between her and Katniss.
“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” is one of the most highly-anticipated films of the year.
