Jennifer Lawrence loses out to Lupita Nyong’o for best supporting actress
Jennifer Lawrence has gotten used to swiping up every award that she’s nominated for. The actress has already been nominated for 3 Oscars before turning 23. Not only that but she has also won the Oscar for her works in the very famous, Hunger Games and Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
However, things didn’t seem to go Jennifer’s way as this time around as the Catching Fire star lost to 12 Years a Slave actress Lupita Nyong’o. Lupita whose parents are Kenyan refugees joyfully came on stage to accept her award and gave a passionate speech to the excited gallery.
Though JLaw did not win this one, she will probably win a lot more in future. What we can say is that, the movie 12 Years a Slave was just too engaging and emotional and had to sweep up an award from someone or the other and this time it was JLaw.
JLaw gave a huge hint that she knew she’d lose as she snubbed the Critics Choice Awards by not showing up on Thursday. It was a disappointment to not see her on stage alongside her co-stars from her latest movie, American Hustle as they went up to receive their Best Acting Ensemble Award. However, Christian Bale also didn’t show up to the awards making the cast feel incomplete. Maybe he was out being Batman or something.
Other than that, congrats again to Lupita for winning the Best Supporting Actress award for her works in the movie 12 Years a Slave. And also, be sure to catch that movie if you haven’t already.
