Jennifer Lawrence Will Not Be Involved In Future ‘Hunger Games’ Prequels
“The Hunger Games” saga has already ended, both in the books and in the movies, as “The Mockingjay Part 2” is currently in the cinemas, and raking in the blockbuster title. However, it seems that the producers behind the franchise, Lionsgate, are opting for another additional film for the general public, which might just be a prequel. “The Hunger Games” actress, Jennifer Lawrence, however, has her own insights about this said plan.
During Lawrence’s interview with MTV UK, she jokingly said, that she thinks that “the most likely thing that will happen when everybody tries to suck this thing dry is probably going to be a prequel with younger actresses.”
It also seems like she wants the hype of the saga to tone down first, in order to raise the anticipation again for another movie. She also said that she would also like to see a film focused on another character instead of hers.
She added, “if I had my way, it would be a Woody Allen dystopian future, and Cate Blanchett would play me.”
That is a good idea, especially for some fans want to see more of Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark in a peaceful Panem with their kids around.
In a separate interview with Variety, Lawrence affirmed that a prequel would be too premature as of the moment, and honestly added that she does not want to have any part in it.
Entertainment Weekly also recently released the statement of Michael Burns, the vice chairman of Lionsgate, regarding the plans for prequel films. In it, he stated that the prequels would have more Hunger Games arenas, which was sorely missed by fans of the franchise in the last two films.
Will Jennifer Lawrence change her mind and become a part of the prequels if ever she is needed there? Let’s all find out soon.
