Jill Dillard And Jessa Seewald Make First Public Appearance Since Duggar Family Scandal
Jill Dillard and Jessa Seewald appeared at the ALIVE Christian Music Festival on Saturday, June 20, to talk faith, marriage and children. The Duggar sisters have made their first public appearance after the Duggar family’s molestation scandal that happened about a month ago.
The 24-year-old Jill and the 22-year-old Jessa appeared with their husbands Derick Dillard and Ben Seewald on stage, and just hinted that they were also victims of their older brother Josh who had allegedly molested three other girls of the family, many years ago while all were minors. However, the sisters never directly addressed the molestation scandal.
“Hey we’re not a perfect family, we mess up,” Jill told during the Q&A-style session of the festival, reports People.
The event focused on “the love between each couple, and the role of faith in their lives.” It also concentrated little on what it would be like when uniting a big family.
Both couples further discussed about the other major changes in their lives – their marriage; the birth of Israel David, Jill and Dillard’s son; the announcement of Jessa and Seewald’s first baby; and Ben’s desire to adopt. Jill and Dillard shared many on-the-job parenting advices.
Josh and his wife, Anna, who were supposed to join the discussion with his sisters did not attend the festival, said the source. Beth Housiaux Steward, 52, of Bedford, Ohio, and Sheri Thompson, 46, of Carrollton, Ohio, attended the festival to show their support for the sisters – Jill and Jessa.
“We wanted to show our support, to support a family that’s been more positive than negative,” Sheri said.
While the couples may not have discussed about the molestation scandal, fans of the “19 Kids and Counting” hit show, who attended the festival were happy to see that Jill and Jessa turned out for the event with their husbands.
