Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard Announce Birth of their Firstborn Baby Boy
After months of waiting and an additional couple of weeks of apprehension, Jill Duggar and her husband Derick Dillard finally met their eldest child, and the couple and their equally excited families immediately took to social media to show the baby off!
On Tuesday, April 7, Jill Duggar took to Instagram to post a photo of her newborn son, finally ending the long wait for the arrival of the new family’s youngest member. In her caption, Jill revealed that her son’s name is Israel David Dillard and that she gave birth to him the night before, on Monday, April 6 at 11:49pm.
In a report by People, it is revealed that Israel was born in a hospital, instead of the original plan of having a home birth. With a length of 23 inches and a weight of 9 pounds 10 ounces, he is one healthy baby.
Shortly after Jill uploaded her son’s photo, the rest of the Duggar family also took to the social media to post other photos of Israel. Jill’s parents Jim Bob and Michelle posted photos of the new family in their Facebook page and promising for more photos to come soon. Jill’s sister Jessa Duggar-Seewald also posted the Dillard family’s first family photo on Instagram.
Like most pregnancies, Israel didn’t come out on his due date, in fact, he was nearly two weeks late. However, being a student midwife herself, Jill admitted in a previous interview that she already expected her son’s late arrival and even set her own due dates on March 24 and April 5.
Since the baby announcement months after their wedding, the Dillard couple have constantly been keeping people updated of their child’s status. They would share photos of Jill’s baby bump on their social media accounts and blogs on their official website.
The birth of Israel David Dillard will be featured in the May 5 episode of ’19 Kids and Counting’ on TLC, just in time for Mother’s Day.
