John Dies at the End Movie Review
John Dies at the End is based on a novel written by David Wong. The movie suffers the same problem as the book. The writer seems to believe that his writing is funny even if it is not. This is why the movie is tedious to watch. The story is all over the place. Viewers will wait for stuff to start paying off but nothing is becomes concrete.
John Dies at the End is about two video store clerks, Dave (Chase Williamson) and John (Rob Mayes). One night after an outdoor performance by his band, John finds an alien substance that he and Dave called soy sauce because of its black and viscous characteristics. Taking a drop of it gives a person a trip that disconnects the person from reality and se all times and dimensions at the same time.
The movie is also about an evil alien force trying to take over the planet. There’s also the self-help evangelist (Clancy Brown). It is easy to lose interest in John Dies at the End because of all the nonsense within the movie.
The most recognizable name in John Dies in the End is Paul Giamatti, who is also one of the producers of the movie. He plays a journalist who is listening to Dave’s story. Most of the movie centers on Dave and John and their not so funny antics.
If you want to know the ending, just read the title. But if you bother to watch John Dies at the End until the end, you find yourself not caring about how he dies. You just wish that it happened a lot faster to alleviate your sufferings. And you must be a masochist for finishing a movie as bad as this. If you love bad movies, then you will love this one.
