Freeman is set to play an iconic civil rights lawyer tasked with defending the titular teddy bear after running into some legal drama while there’s no word yet on what type of guy Neeson nor Slattery will play.
The original film, “Ted,” is MacFarlane’s feature-length directorial debut produced by Media Rights Capital and distributed by Universal Pictures. It received generally positive reviews and was a commercial success, becoming the twelfth highest grossing film of 2012, the highest-grossing R-rated film of the year and the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy of all time. The film also received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song.

Wahlberg confirmed in January 2013 in “Anderson Live” that a sequel was in the works and that it would be the first sequel in his career, also revealing that he and Ted, voiced by MacFarlane, would appear at the 85th Academy Awards. On Feb. 14, 2014, Amanda Seyfried was cast as the female lead while Mila Kunis was hinted to may have a limited role.
“Ted 2” is currently filming in Wahlberg’s hometown in Boston. It will be directed by MacFarlane, which he will co-write with Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild. It will be produced by Media Rights Capital, Fuzzy Door Productions, Bluegrass Films and Smart Entertainment and to be distributed by Universal Pictures. “Ted 2” will make a comeback on June 26, 2015.
