‘John Wick 2’ in Early Development as Confirmed by Directors Leitch and Stahelski
The actor who played the One will be starring in another possible franchise as things are looking up for the development of a “John Wick 2.” Keanu Reeves is set to reprise his assassin role. Read on to know more about the details of this scoop.
Last year, Keanu Reeves starred in one of the most highly acclaimed Assassin movies for 2014. His movie, “John Wick,” got lots of praises from critics and movie goers, alike. Despite the fact that the film only earned about $79 million in the World Wide Box Office, the creators of the film still say that it’s a success once they base it on their production budget that is $20 million. Majority of the people who saw the film liked it enough that they are expecting a sequel to be developed anytime soon. And looks like, that’s what they’ll most likely get as the debut helmsmen of the narrative David Leitch and Chad Stahelski confirms that they are ironing things out for the creation of “John Wick 2.”
In an interview with Movies.com, Leitch and Stahelski confirmed that they are developing the sequel for the assassin film. Apparently, the first-time directors managed to receive much recognition in their work that they are now also being tapped to direct another comic book adaptation entitled “Cowboy Ninja Viking” starring Chris Pratt. Their involvement in the project is not yet final, but they sure are maintaining their sights for “John Wick 2.” Stahelski then explained that their main goal for the sequel would be to maintain the character’s compelling façade.
“We have ideas for days and without blinking twice we know we can outdo the action from the original. It’s the matter of story and how much you like the character. That’s always the most important. If there’s great action but you have a character that no one likes and doesn’t have charisma you’re not going to watch it. Look at any great action star, whether it’s Harrison Ford or Liam Neeson or Robert Downey Jr., pick a name, you love the guy first. Good action, bad action, you just love them in action. So we want to make sure we have a story and a character that everybody loves and then we’ll dress it with action that we promise will be awesome.” Leitch and Stahelski told Movies.com
Here’s to hoping that the sequel for “John Wick” will not fall short of its original premise and action scenes, superseding its predecessor – an unusual thing for action movie franchises.
