Kanye West to Have Two Performances in the Upcoming Grammy Awards
After many years now since he personally stepped up on the Grammys stage back in 2009, Kanye West gets to join the list of performers for the 57th Grammy Awards Ceremony on Feb. 8, 2015.
On Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, West’s wife Kim Kardashian gave a hint on her husband’s appearance on the Grammys through her Twitter post showing a photo of a cabinet of Grammy awards and captioned it with “#YEEZYSEASON #GRAMMYS #GETREADY.”
The news of West actually attending and performing in the Grammys apparently surprised a number of people, especially to those who know that he isn’t exactly a fan of the said awards ceremony. In fact, despite being a nominee and even an awardee in the past years, West never showed up to receive his award.
During a show in London back in February 2013, West ranted about business people and art, particularly music, used as a way to get rich, which eventually led to the Grammys. “Remind me again why we in this s–t. Can you remind me again why we in this s–t? Since when [is] making music about getting rich? Since when [is] making art about getting rich?… Remind me again why we in this s–t. Remind me again why the Grammys couldn’t suck my d–k.”
West is reportedly set to perform twice in the show, along with Paul McCartney and Rihanna, with whom he had made some collaborations with recently. Aside from his performances, West may also be stepping up on the stage again later that night. This is because he has received two nominations for his song “Bound 2,” his collaboration with Charlie Wilson. West is in the list for the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration Award and the Best Rap Song Award.
The 57th Grammy Awards Ceremony is to be hosted by LL Cool J and will be shown in TV at 5:00 p.m. on CBS. Other performers in line for the star-studded awards ceremony are Ariana Grande, Common, Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, John Legend, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Pharrell Williams, Usher, and many more.
