Kanye West Treated Unfairly by Police for His Braids and White Shirt [WATCH VIDEO]
Kanye West’s recent successes, especially with his bombshell wife Kim Kardashian, adorable daughter North and luxurious dream home, are forgotten as his violent past haunted the musician while having a deposition in the case against him when he assaulted a photographer in 2013. Read on for further details.
According to TMZ, West admitted while meeting with his lawyer and the accuser’s official representative that he was convicted of felony 14 years ago. He claimed he was treated unfairly by the police because of his white shirt and braided hair. His fashion sense made him as the police’s target.
In 2001, he was arrested and charged in Illinois for stealing printers from an OfficeMax store. West said he was driving a Ford Expedition, but the police crossed out “Cream Ford Explorer” in their report. He also claimed that he was already a “platinum producer” when the incident happened.
“I think that’s what – I think that’s what – where America had me at that time for having braids,” West told the plaintiff’s lawyer.
The 37-year-old rapper’s latest case is rooted from an incident in August 2013 at Los Angeles International Airport when he had a fight with a photographer. The photographer filed charges that the “Love Lockdown” singer attacked him.
West admitted the recent fault and was sentenced to 240 hours of community service, 24 anger management sessions and 24 months of probation.
Despite the impending punishment, West still has a positive vibe for his family and friends. DC hip-hop artist Wale recruited West to redesign the Washington Wizards’ uniform, according to an issue of ESPN Magazine. He said West can help him do a great job in molding the personality of their stars to the vibe of LeBron James and Dwayne Wade.
“My job is to provide a spark, at all costs. I want to see the phone booth rocking every time I come here,” Wade told ESPN Magazine.
Kardashian posted an adorable YouTube video of her husband delivering a poem about Martin Luther King Jr. back in 1990. The rapper was only about 13 years old.
