“American Idol” Season 5 runner-up Katharine McPhee sang America’s national anthem for the NFC Championship game between the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015. Read on for further details.

The 30-year-old singer-actress hit the high notes gracefully at CenturyLink Field in Seattle in front of more than 60,000 people. While holding a microphone, McPhee’s other hand was inside her pocket. Some critics find it offensive while others think that she felt cold.

Seahawks is the victorious team with 28-22. Their chance of winning was not obvious during halftime, but they made a comeback in overtime. The Super Bowl 2014 champions will battle it out on Superbowl XLIX on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015.

McPhee has received numerous awards for her singing as well as acting. She starred in the TV show “Smash” as Karen Cartwright. She also performed in series “Scorpion” as Paige Dineen, “Family Guy” as Mother Maggie and “Community” as Amber. She appeared in films “The House Bunny” as Harmony, “You May Not Kiss the Bride” as Masha Nikitin and “Shark Night 3D” as Beth.

Pat Monahan from band Train also sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” in Foxborough, Massachusetts for the AFC Championship game between Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots. He did a tremendous performance that even made the Colts’ defensive lineman Arthur Jones emotional. The gentle giant tried so hard to fight back tears for the remainder of the performance.

Jones seemed to have more crying to do because the Patriots claimed victory with 45-7. It will be the Patriots’ sixth appearance in the Super Bowl. Bill Belichick is the team’s coach while the quarterback is the famous Tom Brady.

Like McPhee, Monahan is also a singer-actor. He appeared in films “The Animal,” “Friends with Benefits” and “Spider-Man 2.” He also performed in TV shows “Hawaii Five-O” as Neil Redding, “Driver Dan’s Story Train” as Driver Dan and “CSI: NY” as Sam Baker.
