Keanu Reeves Honored in France as ‘John Wick 2’ Snags Multi-Film Deal

Keanu Reeves is killing it with “John Wick”, and in more ways than one. The as the lethal assassin prepares to return in ‘John Wick 2” with a new distribution deal, Reeves was recently honored at a French film festival. Read on to find out more.

Everybody loved “John Wick,” as Reeves methodically hunted down and killed the murderer of his dog, with no thought to body count.The franchise’s new distributors Ascot have pre-bought “John Wick 2,” and are eyeing to turn it into a multi-film franchise.


Lionsgate CEO John Feltheimer said, “We see ‘John Wick’ as a multiple-title action franchise,” according to VC Post. The first movie pulled in a massive $78 million against its relatively humble $20 million budget, proving to the world that Reeves is still a bankable action movie star.

The French people would at least agree, as he is being honored at the country’s Deauville Film Festival this week. The festival organizers commented to Variety about Reeves enduring roles in cinema:

“Forever Neo from ‘Matrix,’ Jonathan Harker in ‘Dracula’ or Le Chevalier Danceny in ‘Dangerous Liaisons,’ Keanu Reeves has demonstrated his ability to take on extremely varied roles during his long and impressive movie career. He has worked with directors such as Gus Van Sant, Francis Ford Coppola, Bernardo Bertolucci and more recently Richard Linklater.”

The festival will organize tribute viewings of Reeves’ most popular movies.

Reeves is also in Eli Roth’s ‘Knock Knock’, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Though the movie has received mixed reviews from critics, Reeves’ performance in it was praised as compelling.
