Keanu Reeves : Suited up for a complete showdown as John Wick
Keanu Reeves is reprising his role of dreaded hitman John Wick in John Wick 2. The actor had to learn tactical and weapons training. Making John Wick look like the skilled marksman he is, takes hours of specialized learning.
Aaron Cohen, who was part of the team who trained Keanu Reeves, shared a video recently. The actor’s training as John Wick included Judo, Ju-Jitsu, Krav Maga, boxing and 3-gun training. He trained Reeves for over 3 weeks in pre-production tactical firearms preparation. The training also focussed on specific gear and tactics like concealed draw training with Cohen’s newly released Cherries Below-The-Waistband Deep Concealment Holster. Reeves was also trained in clearing a room with limited penetration and casualties.
According to CinemaBlend, its advised not to conceal ones weapon in front of their pants, due to movement and accidental firing issues. However one sees in the 7 minute video that Keanu Reeves completely hides a plastic gun from view and fluidly draws it into position.
ScreenCrush says, that hours of training has gone into this. Initially one sees the actor struggling with the movement but he eventually succeeds.
In the video, Aaron has said that, ‘Keanu is one of the hardest working people I’ve trained. He is the ultimate truth seeker when it comes to understanding and perfecting tactics. He is incredibly humble and I’m truly grateful to have gotten to be a part of his training team for John Wick: Chapter 2.’
The premise John Wick 2 is that, legendary hitman John Wick is forced back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild.
