‘Kong: Skull Island’ Cast Update and Rumors: Dr.Doom, Toby Kebbell, Joins Marvel’s Loki, Tom Hiddleston In The ‘King Of The Apes’ Movie; Kebbell Playing As King Kong?
Recent reports say that Toby Kebbell, the man who played as Dr. Doom in the recently released “Fantastic Four” reboot, is under negotiations with Legendary and Universal to join the current pool of amazing actors in “Kong: Skull Island,” the prequel to the 2005 film, “King Kong.” If negotiations go smoothly and he does climb aboard, Dr. Doom will join the likes of Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, and Corey Hawkins.
Details to his potential role for this film are still in the dark; however, if we are to follow some speculations currently littering the internet, then he’ll most likely have the role of King Kong himself.
You might say that the thought is outright preposterous, but think again. The 33-year-old actor is one of the best motion capture practitioners in the world today. Back in 2014, he successfully conveyed a range of emotions to the audience even if he was covered by countless of pixels as he played as Koba in “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.” Aside from playing as a mischievous conniving chimpanzee, you will also see him play as a giant special effects monster in the 2016 movie adaptation of the popular game “Warcraft.”
Given his particular skill set in the motion capture industry, giving life to the King of the Apes, who is usually viewed as a kind of sympathetic character, will be a breeze, as reported by CinemaBlend.
“Kong: Skull Island” will use the story written by John Gatins (Flight) and Max Borenstein (Godzilla) and will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer). The movie promises to fully immerse viewers to the explorers’ experience as they traverse deep inside the primordial jungles of the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes. If you’re worried about the movie’s story having a different take on the current Kong lore, don’t be because Legendary said that this film will honor the currently existing “King Kong” lore. The only difference is the timeline this film is set in, as reported by FranchiseHerald.
