‘Krampus’ Getting Good Over Weekend

The recently released horror comedy “Krampus” scored a descent figure on the opening weekend. The movie edged out epic science fiction “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” released on Nov. 21. “Krampus” according to the box office analyst did unexpectedly well and opened on the weekend with $16 million in various territories of United States. According to Variety, “Krampus” fetched $6.5 million on the weekend start leaving behind “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” with a figure of $5.9 million. While comparing overall weekend, Jennifer Lawrence starrer “Mockingjay – Part 2” still leads the race collecting approximately $19 million for the entire Thanks Giving weekend. “Krampus” and Disney-Pixar joint project “The Good Dinosaur” are close to figures leading to a second position after “Mockingjay – Part 2”.

It is estimated that the movie will be able to get around $11 million in the upcoming weekend as the Universal Studio is already happy with the opening weekend performance. The studio is making sure to put positive reviews for the movie in order to boost up the figure more.

“Krampus” stars Adam Scott and Toni Collette in the lead roles and has received mixed reviews from critics. The movie is centred on Krampus character of Alpine folklore that disciplines mischievous kids during Christmas. The movie got a wave of positive response that eventually helped in enhancing the figures at theatres.

“Krampus” is fighting the epic saga series “The Hunger Games” which is one of the biggest hits of the year. The movie has grossed around $250 million overseas which comes second to “Mockingjay Paer 1” that grossed $337 million.
