Laurence Fishburne Joins Superman: Man of Steel
Laurence Fishburne is slated to star in the new Superman reboot, ‘Man of Steel’, taking on the role of Perry White.
Fishburne who recently ended his role on CBS’s long running CSI will be joining the cast which already includes Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, and Kevin Costner. Cavill is taking the role of Clark Kent who is the man of steel’s alter ego and Adams will be the hard reporting Lois Lane. Kevin Costner will be Clark’s adopted father Jonathan Kent. Diane Lane has been cast as Clark’s adopted mother; Martha Kent.
Perry White, the editor in chief of the Daily Planet is the tough yet fair boss of Clark Kent and Lois Lane. An old newspaper man, Perry White has been portrayed by the likes of Jackie Cooper in the Superman films starring Christopher Reeves. The character has been a staple of the Superman franchise since the radio serials and continued into the comics and films. Fishburne is expected to bring his own original depiction of Perry White.
‘Man of Steel’ is being produced by Christopher Nolan and directed by Zach Snyder. The film is scheduled for a 2013 release date. David Goyer of ‘Batman Begin’s’ is writing the Superman script.
