Lebron James, Nike Closed A Lifetime Deal; First Athlete To Have The Biggest Deal With The Brand
Undoubtedly, Lebron James is one of the best NBA players in his era. Some fans are even comparing his performance to the legendary Michael Jordan. The Cleveland Cavalier star has numerous awards under his name including championship titles and the privilege to play for his country. These are some of the reasons why an international sports apparel and shoes brand trusted him with their largest deal.
In a report from ESPN, Nike has confirmed the lifetime deal with James. A source claimed that this is the biggest deal they have given to an athlete in their entire 44-year business history.
The brand issued a statement about this agreement, “We can confirm that we have agreed to a lifetime relationship with LeBron that provides significant value to our business, brand and shareholders. We have already built a strong LeBron business over the past 12 years, and we see the potential for this to continue to grow throughout his playing career and beyond.”
Lebron feels overwhelmed and thankful for the trust given to him by Nike. He said, “I’m very humble, man. It’s been an unbelievable time for myself and my family, I’m happy to be a part of such a great company.”
According to CNBC, the Cleveland Cavalier forward first signed the deal with Nike back in 2003 when he was 18 years old. This contract is reportedly valued at $90M. As to his latest lifetime deal with them, the representatives from Nike did not disclose any information.
This lifetime deal of Nike with James Lebron is similar to the agreement between Adidas and David Beckham, and Reebok and Allen Iverson.
