Lindsay Lohan Quotes Maya Angelou to Respond to Jennifer Lawrence’s Diss
Jennifer Lawrence got into a spot of trouble with Lindsay Lohan when she commented on Lindsay Lohan and her state of exhaustion. She was talking to Stephen Colbert on the show, “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Lindsay Lohan responded in kind via twitter although she avoided making any personal attacks via her response.
The lives of celebrities are always the subject of public scrutiny. Their smallest mistake is blown out of proportion and dished out by gossip mongers and libel printers. Lindsay Lohan has seen a fair share of success, but she has also been touched by abysmal failure and the subsequent infamy. Her adventures with men have filled the tabloid pages and her story has been made into an example of a life gone wrong. It is for this reason that Jennifer Lawrence chose to make a remark about her albeit in a lighter vein. Time magazine reported that commenting on her state of exhaustion at the end of the day, J Law told Stephen Colbert on the Late Show, “I get like Lindsay Lohan–grade exhaustion, but without any drugs or alcohol. I’m always in bed early. I’m still tired.”
The comment just went to show that Lindsay Lohan has become a metaphor for exhaustion. And it doesn’t really matter if Lohan really is in a really bad state of exhaustion, it is just that people often talk about exhaustion when they talk about her. Ms. Lawrence was repeating a hashed metaphor, but she had done it in innocence, never knowing that Ms. Lohan and her family will react to it publicly.
The first onslaught came from Lohan’s sister Aliana, who said that she was no longer a Jennifer Lawrence fan. Then Lindsay reacted with a Maya Angelou quote, “you may shoot me with your words, you may cut me with your eyes, you may kill me with your hatefulness, but still like air I’ll rise.” Lohan’s mother told off Lawrence via Entertainment Tonight, that it was a shame that she didn’t have her peers back.
