There Could Be LIVE Singing on ‘Undateable’ in May! [WATCH VIDEO]
NBC is attempting to do another live programming with the comedy series “Undateable” and it looks like some singing may take place too! Read on for more.
As reported on Deadline, a live presentation of “Undateable” will be happening on NBC this coming May. The show, which stars Chris D’ Elia, Brent Morin and Bridgit Mendler, will do the live show twice, for its East coast and West coast viewers.
This feat is not something new for NBC, which did the same presentation several years ago with “Will & Grace” and “30 Rock.” But it is a big deal for “Undateable.” It was because the show is still making a mark and winning an audience in its second season. Deadline analyzes that the special episode could bring much attention to the series.
Bill Lawrence, the creator and executive producer of “Undateable” said that the idea came from Bob Greenblatt, the chairman of the network.
“He called up and asked if we’d do an hour-long live sitcom, an episode for both coasts. And we foolishly said yes, until we realized what an over-the-top nightmare this could possibly be. But I think it’ll be fun,” said Lawrence via Entertainment Weekly.
While there are no confirmed details to the plot of the episode just yet, it’s hinted that music will be figuring a lot into the story, given the musicality and background of its stars. Mendler is an up and coming singer who got her start with Disney, while Morin has had his fair share of belting out and breaking out into songs in the show’s first season.
The only thing that worries the producers, however, is if the cast will be able to hold themselves together and not fall out laughing. Apparently, it gets too hilarious during the tapings in the “Unbreakable” set that Lawrence said in jest, he’s going to have to kill a cast member who will ruin the live presentation. “Undateable” also stars Bianca Kajlich, Ron Funches, Rick Glassman and David Fynn, who are all part of the first season. Medler is the newcomer.
