Loki Wields the Mjolnir in ‘Thor 2: The Dark World’ Deleted Scene
You thought only Thor was worthy of wielding the Mjolnir, right? Back in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” except for Vision and Captain America to some extent when no one could even move the hammer for even an inch, Thor deemed all of them unworthy of holding his weapon. But what if we tell you there is someone else who apparently held the Mjolnir right in his hands and is also not an Avenger.
According to Cinema Blend, the deleted scene of “Thor 2: The Dark World” shows something that no fan in the Cinematic Universe would ever believe. It shows Loki of all people wielding the Mjolnir as the majestic weapon lands right on his hand when he calls for it. This isn’t just the only moment, which has managed to captivate everyone. There’s more to this deleted scene as it shows Loki as the King of Asgard and Asgardians cheering for him.
What is so special about the scene is that even Lady Sif can be seen kneeling before Loki as she welcomes the Ruler of Asgard. Loki in his true majestic way can be seen raising both his hands and grabbing the Mjolnir flying towards him. Before you go crazy about the scene, this actually happens to be one of Loki’s illusions in which he sees his ultimate ambition of ruling Asgard getting fulfilled just before Frigga interrupts him. This was the scene right in the beginning when Loki was shown captured in one of the cells in Asgard. This and perhaps reading is the only way with which he keeps himself really busy.
Movie Web added that in the scene it is Frigga who pulls Loki out of his illusion and suggests that he spend time reading books instead of harboring ambitions that will never get fulfilled. But one should not forget this is Loki we are talking about because in the end of “Thor 2: The Dark World,” we eventually see Loki in the form of Odin sitting on the throne confronting Thor.
Reasons for impersonating Odin aren’t really known yet, but one of the reasons could definitely be his wish to rule Asgard and when you are impersonating the Allfather, there’s no authority that could question you. Our guess is that Loki must be hiding from someone (Thanos) because he did fail him back in “Avengers” and this could be the best disguise he could manage. It remains to be seen what will Loki do now in the form of Odin. “Thor: Ragnarok” will certainly have the answers.
