First Look at the Dancing Groot Toy [WATCH VIDEO]
Marvel reveals on Twitter their take on the fan-awaited dancing Groot toy. REad on for further details.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” fans go wild as, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel unveils on Twitter their take on the fan-awaited dancing Groot toy. As announced by Marvel Entertainment’s Ryan Penagos on Twitter, Funko toys will be released later this year.
Since the movie’s release, some people have made their own version of the little dancing Groot, who was featured at the end of the movie, to the beat of Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back” — track 7 of Awesome Mix Vol. 1 by the way, which is also available for download in iTunes.
The said toy doesn’t actually dance like other Funko toy releases. However, as Penagos calls it as “the first,” it might suggest that a truly dancing toy might be released someday, hopefully in the near future.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” helmer James Gunn explains in an interview with Empire that the mini-Groot dancing sequence was originally intended as a post-credit sequence for the sci-fi superhero pic, which ended up attached to the end of the main feature, leading to the creation of the actual post-credit sequence attached to the movie featuring one of Marvel’s obscure characters, Howard the Duck.
The quirky superhero pic has become one of the biggest box office surprises of the year, becoming the top-grossing film of the summer in North America, outplaying the likes of “Transformers: Age of Extinction” and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” “Guardians of the Galaxy” opened up to a whopping $26.6 million for a total of $37.8 million, including the Thursday night earnings of $11.2 million. To date, its global earnings is at $430.7 million and still going up. With its critical and financial success, a sequel has been announced and is scheduled to be released on July 28, 2017.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” is produced by by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the tenth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is directed and written by James Gunn and co-written by Nicole Perlman. It features an ensemble cast including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro.
