‘Madagascar’ Penguins Finally Get their Own Movie

Those lovable penguins from the Madagascar series is finally getting their own movie. The film will follow the antics of Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private.

Alan J. Schoolcraft (Megamind) and Brent Simons have been tapped for the screenplay, but the untitled project does not yet have a director.


Megamind grossed a staggering $319 million worldwide, making the film a mammoth success for DreamWorks.

The penguins have an animated show on Nickelodeon and is in its second season.

Madagascar 3, directed by Eric Darnell, will land in theaters on June 8, 2012.

It’s been a good year for spin-offs on DreamWorks projects as Shrek’s Puss in Boots will arrive in theaters on Nov. 4.
